We define “new” loosely at Revue. Some of these beers have been around before, but they’re new to us, so that’s reason enough to check them out and let you know what we think. (Note: This was not a blind tasting.)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Murray Project
Blackrocks Brewery, Marquette, Mich.
Imperial IPA, 9.2% ABV
Pours coppery and clear with a citrus fruit-heavy aroma. Flavors explode of citrus and fruit rind, with just enough malt to back things up. Great syrupy body with clean, lingering finish.
SCORE: 89.25

Crop Duster IPA
Grand Armory Brewing Co., Grand Haven, Mich.
IPA, 7.3% ABV
Fans of Citra hops rejoice: This is a slightly hazy single-hop IPA with a syrupy body and a lingering citrusy finish.
SCORE: 85.75

RECOMMENDED

Hopsessed
Petoskey Brewing Co., Petoskey, Mich.
Imperial IPA, 9.2% ABV
Somewhat muted aroma and rather balanced for a high-IBU IPA, although the bitterness claws through in the finish.
SCORE: 81.5

Hoptronix
New Holland Brewing Co., Holland, Mich.
Imperial IPA, 9% ABV
Juicy flavor and a juicy aroma dominate this beer, with a finish heavy on mango notes.
SCORE: 79.25

Classic Pilsner
Blackrocks Brewery, Marquette, Mich.
Pilsner, 5.5% ABV
This is an incredibly drinkable, pleasant pilsner that would be perfect anytime, especially in summer.
SCORE: 78.5

45’er IPA
Austin Brothers Brewing Co., Alpena, Mich.
IPA, 7% ABV
Nice and fruity, with some tea-like flavors. It finishes strong with lemon rind notes.
