Studio Park’s piazza is primed to see its busiest season yet this summer.

With vaccines rolling out and the sun shining, the piazza — a.k.a. public square — outside Celebration Cinema’s downtown theater is ready for movies, concerts, yoga and more. This patch of grass was always intended to be a community space, but the COVID pandemic made things a bit more challenging last year.

Now, the piazza’s vision is coming to fruition with plans for multiple events per week all summer.

According to a press release, “Studio Park’s piazza was designed for activation, with a state of the art sound system, digital screen and direct service of food & beverage from 123 Tavern’s outdoor bar.”

It’s not all written into stone just yet, but here are the initial plans to get excited for!

Sunset Cinema

The second year of Sunset Cinema naturally leads to a summer of great sequels, starting in June with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Pitch Perfect 2 and The Naked Gun 2.5. Sit outside on the lawn and enjoy a movie with drinks and food in tow! Tickets are available on Celebration Cinema’s website.

Listening Lawn

The alliteration continues with Listening Lawn, an outdoor concert series from Studio Park’s Listening Room! The series begins June 3rd with electronic duo Pink Sky and neosoul group Earth Radio, hosted by hip-hop artist and activist Lady Ace Boogie. Once a week, performers across all genres will take the “stage” on the piazza. Tickets are available at listeningroomgr.com.

Fun Fitness

Funky Buddya Yoga Hothouse is offering DAILY outdoor classes in the piazza. Just $10 for guests, all you need to bring is your mat and an open heart. It’s a truly unique yoga experience, stretching and flowing outside on the lawn.

If you’re looking to make some friends and get active, check out the GR Sport and Social Club, hosting Backyard Bonanza on Monday and Tuesday nights. Cornhole, ladder ball, bocce ball — if you’re a master of yard games, this is the event for you. Sign up at grssc.com.

And More!

Studio Park also announced plans for a drag show, River City Improv, and many other public events. Keep an eye on studioparkgr.com for updates, and remember: Parking is easy at Studio Park, and free if you’re there for a movie!
