With the obvious exception of anybody and anything associated with Justin Bieber and Nickelback, all Canadians are awesome. It’s practically a law of physics. (Call it the Kindly Canuck Theory of Charming Relativity, if you must.) That’s why we’re so excited for Owen Pallett’s forthcoming Calvin College show. As an Ontario native and well-rounded musician, Pallett has proved himself a considerable source of joy and amusement for fans already familiar with his violin-centered brand of electric pop. With a solid eight albums, both LPs and EPs, to his credit – some released under the moniker Final Fantasy – and a recent Academy Award nomination for his work on the score of Her, Pallett is standing up as an insatiable northerly neighbor talent. Currently on tour in support of his latest effort, In Touch, Pallett is busy keeping those live violin loops going strong for eager audiences the world over. If this is what oh, Canada looks and feels like, our only possible response is oh, yeah!
