Any true-blue punk rocker worth his or her weight in metal-studded leather cuffs has to be trembling with anticipation over this most unlikely of reunions. Oh sure, seminal West Coast punk band X has been touring again as a united force since the early 2000s, but after a series of lineup changes and its eventual disbandment in the ‘90s, many hardcore fans had given up hope of ever seeing X’s original members ruling the punk-rock realm together on the same stage. And yet, here we are – with their forces combined, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom, John Doe and DJ Bonebreak are back for a thorough round of rocking and they’ve brought mojo times infinity along with them. As the masterminds behind punk/rockabilly classic singles like “Adult Books” and “We’re Desperate,” not to mention the much-heralded albums Los Angeles and Wild Gift, it’s utterly refreshing to see that none of X’s swagger has been lost to the ravages of time. Basically, this Pyramid Scheme show is gonna be one hell of a wild gift (see what we did there), and we’re super excited to rip the wrapping paper off of it.
