Happy Summer!!!

The weather may not be perfectly sunny this week, but the solstice has officially passed and we should have three gorgeous months ahead.

Summer and vaccines combined means more events than we’ve seen in over a year. Festivals, parking lot parties, art markets — it’s all here. As always, this is our lineup of great events in the week ahead.

Adult Night Out
John Ball Zoo
June 24, 6-9 p.m.

Everyone loves the zoo, but let’s be honest: Sometimes, you have to wonder what it might be like to get up close against the glass without worrying about blocking a 5-year-old from seeing.

Adult Night Out is for 21 and older guests exclusively, with alcoholic beverages and a special “breakfast for dinner” menu, including deep-fried bacon on a stick. Get your tickets before they sell out!

Parking Lot Party
Eastern Kille Distillery
June 25, 4 p.m.-1 a.m.

Food and drinks in the parking lot? That’s a good start. What if you throw in rising star Bradley Sinclair, recently featured on The Voice, for music? And what if the food is from traveling chef Shaker & Swine? And of course the drinks are from amazing cocktail bar Eastern Kille Distillery! Well, I’m sold.

Hello Summer Market
Pink + Frillos at Frugthaven Farm
June 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cheery gifts, vintage home décor, cute apparel — Pink + Frillos has it all, plus more with its new location at Frugthaven Farm near Greenville. It’s the perfect place for a market to kick off summer, featuring coffee, smoothies and donuts from The Kaffebar. If you want to do some local summer shopping, this is the market for you.

Last Sundays Outdoor Market
Bridge Street Market
June 27, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The last Sunday of every month means a bustling outdoor market at Bridge Street! Come for the vendors, stay for the samplings and giveaways. This week's vendors include: KDPL Bookmobile, Encore Floral, Mycophile Mushrooms, Nibble & Nosh, The Urban Pickle, Lively Up Kombucha, Let's Stay Home Cocktail Mixes, Aperol Spritz, Five 14 Candles, The Cheese Lady

and Browndog Creamery.

Bands at Blandford – Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps
Blandford Nature Center
June 26, 7 p.m.

Blandford Nature Center is a gem of Grand Rapids, with animals to see, trails to walk and tons of activities all year ‘round. That includes an outdoor concert series, Bands at Blandford, featuring live music among the woods. Come see Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps perform their new music inspired by blues, classic rock and progressive rock. With concessions from Brewery Vivant, Sacred Springs Kombucha and more!
