Trick or treat!

Halloween is on our doorstep, and there are endless haunted happenings to choose from this weekend. West Michigan has creepy puppets, bar crawls, costume contests, drag bingo and much more for your entertainment.

Here’s what’s on our radar for the week ahead:

Ox-Bow Goes to Hell
Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists’ Residency
3435 Rupprecht Way, Saugatuck
Oct. 29-31

Ox-Bow uses the power of art to take its spooks and scares above and beyond. Head on out this weekend to enjoy the Haunted Cabins and Spooky Trail, with recently awakened spirits quite interested in your soul. If you want to party, visit on Saturday for the Graveyard Rave, a big party that’s just what it sounds like. On Sunday, bring your kids for Ox-Bow Goes to Heck!

A Nightmare On Bridge. St.
New Holland Brewing The Knickerbocker
417 Bridge St. NW, Grand Rapids
Oct. 31, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.

We all love drag brunches now that we know how fun they are, and the only thing that can make them better is a great theme. These Halloween shows will of course be quite spooky, so bring a costume and prepare for two hours of fun, food, drinks and dancing.

Halloweed 2021
New Standard Park Place
1922 Park St., Muskegon
Oct. 30, 3-11 p.m.

New Standard is offering West Michigan's first live cannabis consumption event! What does that mean? Well, it means you can legally smoke weed in public with friends and strangers, while enjoying Halloween festivities. Activies include live music all day and night, food trucks, an apple bong-making contest, a costume contest, Puff n' Paint class (with a free pre-roll), and on-site cannabis consumption and sales. Time to chill out—together.

Creepy Clowns & Paranormal Puppets
The Comedy Project
540 Leonard St. NW, Grand Rapids
Oct. 28-30

The Comedy Project is here with a horrifically funny, special Halloween variety show, featuring a hilarious mix of comedy, music, creepy clowns and paranormal puppets. Get ready for jump scares, belly laughs, and lots of Pumpkin Pie Moonshine. Sketches include Law & Order: SPU (slam poetry unit), Abandoned House: The Musical, and much more.

4th Annual Halloween Bar Crawl
Tin Can Grand Rapids
206 Grandville Ave. SW, Grand Rapids
Oct. 30, 4 p.m.

Let’s see: two free drinks, five venues, a crazy after party at Flanagan’s, and a $1,000 costume contest? Sounds like a deal to us! This bar crawl starts at Tin Can and spans multiple downtown locations, including Dublin Hall, Grand Woods Lounge, New Holland Brewing’s The Knickerbocker, Social House and more. Put on your best costume and forge your own path, meeting and drinking with new people all along the way.

Halloween Fowling to Keep ‘em Rolling is a benefit for Alternatives in Motion’s pediatrics program featuring competitive fowling, a costume contest, celebrity judges and music. Oct. 28 at the Fowling Warehouse.

Naughty Halloween Drag at Naughty Bettie includes an amazing drag show, a spooky charcuterie board contest, a full-blown drag show and costume contest.

It’s a Bass Country Halloween at The Intersection, with a multi-room dubstep/house music-focused event featuring 10+ musical acts. Oct. 29.

3 Gatos Brewery, the newest addition to the Beer City Ale Trail, throws a Halloween Party and costume contest on Oct. 30.

The Haunted Forest at Cannonsburg Ski Area is filled with hungry zombies, scary witches, ghosts, and other monsters that exist only in your worst nightmares. Friday & Saturday from Oct. 1-31.

Skelletones music venue celebrates Halloween with back-to-back nights of high-energy ska, punk and hardcore bands. Oct. 29-30.

The Halloween Party at Trail Point Brewing Company  includes a costume contest and spooky vinyl tunes spun by DJ Big Dutch. Oct. 29.
