Happy Holidays, y'all! December is here and with it comes plenty of snow, a bit of sleet, and tons of holiday events.
This is one of my absolute favorite times of year. Yes, it's hectic. Yes, it's crazy. Yes, it's out of control. It's also balanced out by a communal agreement to all be as kind and jolly as possible.
The same goes for gift-buying. It can be a lot of work, but it's also rewarding, and pretty fun! Especially when you do it locally at any of the many, many local art markets this weekend. Rather than dealing with overwhelming, warehouse-sized, nationwide chains, you can spend an afternoon strolling booth to booth, browsing one-of-a-kind art, bath products, etc.
That said, here's what's on our radar for the week ahead:
Holiday Sip & Shop

The Grand Rapids Holiday Sip & Shop is a community-driven event, bringing together local makers and artisans, holiday customers, and Treetops Collective, a Grand Rapids-based non-profit organization for a one-night-only shopping occasion with 22 handmade vendors.
Christmas with Blue October
133 Grandville Ave. SW, Grand Rapids
Dec. 11, 7 p.m.
Blue October is an alternative rock band known for hits like “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean,” and they’re coming to Grand Rapids with some dark and gloomy Christmas music in tow. This is one of only FOUR shows on a very special, twisted, Christmas tour. Rock out—festively!
Seven Steps Up

Heather Maloney is an incredible folk singer-songwriter with a voice like no one else, and she's coming to West Michigan, hot off the release of her Christmas EP, Christmas Anyway. See her in the intimate Seven Steps Up for a rare performance.
