Blushing brides have a chance to check out the Grand Rapids Bridal Show on Jan. 9 and 10. Our Lindsay Patton-Carson will even tell you how to score a free, high-sugar dinner while you are there. REVUE's Beer Bro Nick Manes also makes an appearance to discuss the upcoming Kalamazoo Beer Week.

Blues Best Bet: Selwyn Birchwood

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Monday, 22 December 2014 16:46 |

Hey, you. What do you have going on this boring Sunday night? Chances are, not much. Instead, see a raw, authentic bluesman that will sex-up your ear canals with some intense, juicy guitar twanging.

Pop Best Bet: Motion City Soundtrack

These 10 years past, it’s been hard to forget about the, well, soundtrack that guided us through our young adult transitional lives. With Commit This To Memory’s decade anniversary, the Minneapolis-based quintet is celebrating more than just a recording career milestone.

Classic Rock Best Bet: Fleetwood Mac

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Monday, 22 December 2014 16:42 |

Return of the Mac. Return of the Mac. As devoted ‘90s lyrics enthusiasts, we had an inkling he might be back. But we never guessed that she would be back as well; that is, Christie McVie, the longstanding hold out on the much-buzzed about Fleetwood Mac reunion tour.

BEST BETS: A country Christmas and holiday hijinks with Audria Larsen

Written by REVUE Staff and Minions | Thursday, 18 December 2014 11:15 |

This week, Lindsay brought in Audria Larsen of Super Happy Funtime Burlesque, which just returned from tour and will hit both Holland and Grand Rapids with fun holiday-themed show this weekend. Larsen provided a glimpse on what to expect along with divulging her family's favorite holiday traditions. In addition to that, a country favorite returns home to Kalamazoo on Saturday night to perform at the State Theatre for a special Christmas show. Also, the UICA has a very unique film festival on tap for tonight.

Indie Best Bet: Over The Rhine

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Sunday, 30 November 2014 21:38 |

While Ohio appears to be a toenail on Michigan’s foot, our favorite southerly neighbor/presidential election ruiner sure has produced a fair amount of beyond-excellent musicians. One such is Cincinnati's Over the Rhine, the husband and wife duo of Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, which has been cranking out thick, hearty, Midwestern folk rock since the late ‘80s.

Comedy Best Bet: The Trailer Park Boys

Each and every December, countless television specials, movies, concerts and almost every conceivable type of media devout hours to the age-old question: What is the true meaning of Christmas?

Folk Best Bet: The Lone Bellow

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Friday, 21 November 2014 10:39 |

If Brooklyn insists on continuing to churn out titans of alt-pop culture, we might just have to consider packing up Revue HQ and heading over to Williamsburg. Just kidding! As much as we love the skinny-jeans central hub of NYC, we’d die if we ever abandoned our beloved Western Michiganders.

Rock Best Bet: Bob Seger

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Friday, 21 November 2014 10:35 |

OK, y’all. If you have any shred of respect left for your upstanding Michigander self, you WILL be at this Bob Seger concert. Why? Why? Have you no sense of Detroit rock decency? This is the great-granddaddy of all things Motown madness, and if you haven’t managed to catch the Seeg live before, now’s perhaps one of your final chances to bask in legendary light.

Folk Best Bet: Suzanne Vega

Written by Emma Kat Richardson | Friday, 24 October 2014 13:52 |

Let’s just be real honest here: I love Suzanne Vega, you love Suzanne Vega, every Revue minion who has ever minioned loves Suzanne Vega (even though some of them were born in the ‘90s, mercy). She’s more than just the artist who drew attention to the tragedy of child abuse. An award winning, indie rock iconoclast with more than 30 years in the industry, Vega is a force to be reckoned with, perhaps even more now than ever.
