Trees give us shade, clean the air, lower energy costs, slow traffic, and provide beautiful streets. The Burton Heights neighborhood has historically had a fewer healthy trees than others, but we are working to change that!
With Mayor Bliss, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, the City Forestry Department, and area residents, we'll be planting 300 trees throughout the year.
On Oct. 9, volunteer from 10-to-1pm or 2-to-5pm and help add 250 new trees to the neighborhood! Trees will be planted in open spaces between the sidewalk and road (don't worry - they won't interfere with power lines, driveways or walkways!).
Never planted a tree before? No problem! Our team will give you step by step instructions on how to plant a tree as well as provide all the tools and equipment you will need. There will always be a tree expert in the area who will be able to answer any questions.
