IDK What You Know is a live entertainment platform designed as a community listening experience. We approach learning through entertainment in a living room styled conversation. The goal of IDK What You Know is to create access for the community to listen to each other. The program was developed pre-pandemic and is reimagined as life returns to a new normalcy.
The live event will be housed in Ferguson Apartment's newly renovated 6th floor community room, May 14th at 4:00pm. The event is developed in partnership with The Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids Artist in Residence program funded by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. The Artist in Residence program consisted of three artist-led workshops (collage making, watercolor, and acrylic painting) that shaped the conversation that we will have on May 14th.
This event features Grand Rapids Poet Laureate Kyd Kane in conversation with Artist in Residence Brandon Copeland and community partners from Mel Trotter, Dégagé, and The Dwelling Place. The entertainment is provided by Ohio based artist DaveKevinAdam performing his song "Alive" which is the theme song of IDK What You Know and a show stopping performance by the band Les Creatif. We will also be featuring -YOU- the audience in an interactive experience that runs throughout the event!
As the community comes back to life following the pandemic, a lot of resources and programs have either been on pause and are reconvening or have been expanded during this time. This showcase focuses on the programs and resources in the Heartside Neighborhood, specifically about access to housing, fresh food, healthcare, and information. All are welcome to join in on this conversation on May 14th!
