How does Baruch de Spinoza, a Portuguese/Jewish philosopher, get his portrait on Dutch money? Why does Albert Einstein name him as one of his most important influences? In this play, Spinoza’s radical ideas get him crosswise with his beloved city, his Jewish community, and his closest friends. This engaging drama is described as a “battle of ideas”, a “portrait of the philosopher as a young man”, and a “daring leap into metaphysics”.
