Revue dining writer Troy Reimink provides his own hot takes of our Best of the West dining and drinking winners. Plus: the full winners list from readers and staff picks!
The votes are in. Revue’s inaugural Best of the West poll came to a close on June 25, meaning we’ve had a month to tally the ballots and analyze the results.
We asked anyone and everyone passionate about West Michigan to vote for their favorite local establishments and/or people in 127 categories, from New Restaurant and Best Bartender to Farmers’ Market and Best Record Store. Find out who won!
Any road trip that’s worth a damn must include roads that are fun to drive.
And if we’re being honest, we need to drop this bombshell: Despite being the state that put America on wheels, Michigan has precious few engaging roads for the discerning driver. Here are three worthy and engaging “drivers’ roads” around Michigan that will get your heart racing, whether you’re piloting a capable sportscar or just a mundane family truckster.
This summer, resist the urge to sit in your air-conditioned abode. Get out of town and hit the highway before the roads are iced over once again.
To get you started, Revue’s staff offers up some of our favorite off-the-beaten-path destinations outside of West Michigan.
Welcome to Revue’s first ever STYLE Issue! This inaugural special section spotlights some of West Michigan’s most fashionable people, places and (locally-made) products.
While there are not enough pages to feature every worthy local fashionista, Revue chatted with 11 style mavens from various areas of expertise: Local fashion bloggers, boutique owners, personal shoppers and more.
From there, Revue delves deeper with our West Michigan Style File, highlighting a sample of what other chic natives have to offer. From interior designers to bakers of fabulous treats — it’s a mixed bag of fab!
Being stylish yet frugal is a fine line to walk — especially in stilettos. Likely, you want one stop shopping where digging is minimal and selection is top-notch — like your rich friend’s closet. If you can’t swing that, here’s the next best thing: reBlue, located at 1423 Lake Dr. SE in Eastown.
If you’ve got a burning desire to take in a museum and admire expensive pieces of art, but are still trying to pay off those shockingly high overage charges on your cell phone bill, here’s a shortlist of artsy West Michigan hotspots that won’t wipe you out.
Being this is Revue’s Cheap Issue, let’s celebrate the current state of the back catalog CD, starting with this list of a dozen inarguably great bargain-bin albums you can pick up at several chain bookstores and big box emporiums for just five or six dollars a pop. Your locally-owned indie record shop usually has a pile of these titles, as well.
