The new Head of the Pride Salon (444 Bridge St NW) is relaxed, yet full of passion, like its Westside neighborhood. Owner Sarah Dilley-Couture got her chops working at clip joints around town, namely Cheeky Strut for five years. Now she’s been on her own since June. “I wanted to create an atmosphere that is a huge melting pot, like the neighborhood, she said. “Everyone gets the same luxury experience and the salon feels like home.”

On Dec. 4, New Belgium Brewing Company hosts its Ranger Games in Grand Rapids. This event follows the successful New Belgium Clips Beer & Film Tour that came to downtown Grand Rapids this past summer.

Last year we were nominated in the same category by a juror. We had gone over and above with our performance schedules and we were so invested, [but] we approached it differently this year. And so going into the awards ceremony this year, I really didn't think we would win.
