The Vintage Parlor Orchestra play works by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Dvorak and Haydn at NOMAD Gallery on Tuesday, August 13th and Thursday, August 15th Performing chamber works and reductions of larger orchestral repertoire, the Vintage Parlor Orchestra is a versatile and talented assembly of local musicians taking classical music out of the concert halls and into breweries, art galleries, mansions, and the historic buildings of West Michigan. The overture to the evening will be Mendelssohn’s 10th String Symphony in B minor, continuing VPO’s exploration of his youthful genius. Soloist Leslie Deppe will be performing the first full concerto in VPO history, with the charming Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major by Mozart. After intermission, soloist Carrie Brannen will perform the hauntingly beautiful “Silent Woods” for Cello and Orchestra by Dvorak. Closing the night is the powerful yet comedic wit of Haydn’s Symphony No. 83 in G minor. Please join us for a relaxed concert atmosphere, where guests are welcomed to tour the gallery during intermission. A pop-up bar will be available during the entire concert. Pictures, video, and live streaming of the performance are encouraged. Program Felix Mendelssohn String Symphony No. 10 in B minor W. A.
