The Holland Chorale continues their 60th anniversary celebrations with their annual holiday concert, The Glory of Christmas, on Sunday, December 8, at First Reformed Church, 630 State Street in Holland. Because of last year’s audience demand, the Chorale will offer two performances -- at 3 and at 7:30 p.m. The concert includes fresh settings of traditional carols, selections from The Messiah, and contemporary songs of the season. The Chorale will perform a new work, Lux: The Dawn from on High, by Dan Forrest, a young star in the classic choral world. Patrick Coyle, the Chorale’s artistic director, has created an arrangement for this concert of God Bless My Family, by jazz and Broadway star Ann Hampton Callaway. The Handbell Choir of First Reformed Church, under the direction of Cheryl Van Oss, performs a unique setting of What Child is This with dulcimer, Angels We Have Heard on High, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas with the Chorale. Other featured performers are Rick Van Oss (organ) and a chamber orchestra of local instrumentalists. Principle Accompanist Phyllis Miner performs as pianist and organist. Tickets for The Glory of Christmas as well as season tickets are available online at hollandchorale.org, by phone 616.494.0256, or by mail Holland Chorale, PO Box 1513, Holland MI 49422.
