Herbs and decadent chocolate may not sound like a winning combination, but at Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate, the two mesh masterfully.
Grocer’s Daughter's Chocolate is fair-trade and commonly mixed with all-natural and organic ingredients, many from local partners including Madcap Coffee, and most are gluten free.
Truffles in the Herbal Collection – six total – are crafted using the finest herbs from local farms, some from just upstairs at Downtown Market’s own greenhouse.
To make a lavender truffle, artisans combine cream, organic cane sugar and lavender. It is boiled and steeped, much like a tea, and then the lavender is strained back out. The lavender-infused mixture is then added to the chocolate to make the ganache. This is set, rolled and dipped in more dark chocolate and topped with powdered candied violet. The result is a creative concoction that’s flavorful without being overpowering.
