This morning, Frederik Meijer Gardens announced the first four acts of its summer concert series.
On July 5, chart-topping country duo Montgomery Gentry brings its version of Southern rock to Grand Rapids.
A couple days later, in what could be the most eccentric show of the season, David Byrne and St. Vincent perform on July 7. The duo released its first collaboration album, Love This Giant, in 2012. Audiences may know Byrne as the frontman of new wave band Talking Heads. St. Vincent (real name Annie Clark) released her debut album, Marry Me, (a reference to "Arrested Development") in 2007.
Coming back to Meijer Gardens are Steve Miller Band and Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers featuring Edie Brickell on July 18 and 29, respectively. While primarily known for his comedy, Steve Martin has spent the last few years focusing on his music career. He brings with him Edie Brickell, famous for her hit song "What I Am." The other Steve – Miller, that is – barely needs an introduction. Steve Miller Band ruled 1970s radio with hits like "The Joker," "Take the Money and Run," "Jungle Love," "Rock'n Me" and more.
Tickets for these shows go on sale to the general public and May 11.
