Pop punk is far from dead, especially in the Grand Rapids area. With pop punk purists like Midwest Skies, West and Run and The Better Fight grinding it away, the genre ain't going away. Sorry hipsters!
When you talk pop rock, you would be remiss (yea, I said remiss) if you didn't mention Maybe Next Time, a six-piece group from right here in furniture city. Alive and kicking since 2011, the band recently dropped a juicy new album entitled Nothing On The Surface. The Nov. 9 release was the latest chapter in the high-energy, power-packed sex(haha)get.
A track called "Footsteps" was the first single off of the album. We're featuring it this week as our local track of the week. Give it a listen below or just click play while you're browsing.
The band will be in action on Wednesday at the Magic Stick in Detroit.
If you are a band or artist that would like to be considered for our Local Track of the Week, please e-mail web editor Jayson Bussa at
