TRACK OF THE WEEK: "Three Cheers" by Head

When you live in Beer City USA, sometimes, you just gotta toast to the weekend. One band is providing an anthem for such an occasion.

The band Head, out of Grand Rapids, released their most recent album Three Cheers about a month ago at The Pyramid Scheme. For fans and followers of this local trio, it was a long awaited, highly-anticipated release since the band’s last album back in 2011.

The new album packs some punk-rock party anthems like “Three Cheers” and “The Weekend". Basically, Head is a lower-fi, punk rock version of Andrew WK (but, to be fair, the guys in Head look a little cleaner). Still, the album retains a social conscious with tracks like “A Song For Trayvon”. It's a mixed bag.

But, instead of telling you about this latest release from members Benjamin Hunter, Joe Botwinski and Mike Luxford, just take a listen for yourself. We’re featuring “Three Cheers” as our Local Track of The Week. Press play, and get the weekend started a little early.
