Five musicals and two special shows have been announced for Broadway Grand Rapids’ next season.
The season kicks off with Wicked, the musical that gives us another view into Land of Oz. The show is running for three weeks, from Oct. 18 to Nov. 5, 2017.
Next up is Les Miserables, a musical set in 19th-century France that especially gained some steam after the 2012 film version. The show runs from Nov. 21-26, 2017.
After that is Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, a musical biography of the titular singer-songwriter. This show runs from Feb. 13-18, 2018.
Then, The Bodyguard take the stage, telling the story of a bodyguard of an R&B superstar, this time played by Deborah Cox. Inevitably, they fall in love in this musical that runs from March 6-11, 2018.
Finally, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I rounds out the season June 5-10, 2018. This musical tells the tale of yet another unlikely duo who fall in love: the King of Siam and a British schoolteacher.
While not quite “musicals,” Broadway GR is also hosting the very musical Mannheim Steamroller Christmas on Dec. 12, 2017 and Stomp on Jan. 18-20.
