Cirque du Soleil returning to Grand Rapids in December

This December, Cirque du Soleil is bringing its newest show, OVO, to Van Andel Arena.

OVO means “egg” in Portuguese. In the show, a large egg appears suddenly among dozens of insects. The insects attempt to understand the “mysterious” object while playing, fighting and looking for love.

According to the show’s creator, OVO is really about movement, however, not insects. More than 50 performing artists specializing in acrobatics are involved in the show.

The internationally-touring Cirque du Soleil is performing OVO seven times from Dec. 14-18. Tickets are going on sale to the general public for $30 on Sept. 9.
