A Black Friday event known as Dark Beer, Dark Side will offer visitors a look at new beer, psychedelic rock and the stars.
The collaboration between Brewery Vivant and the Grand Rapids Public Museum begins with a presentation from the brewery’s “Wandering Monk,” Ryan Engemann. He’s discussing various dark beers while visitors drink some of those various beers, including Tart Side of the Moon, a limited-release wild dark farmhouse ale.
After some time freely exploring the museum, the event then moves to the planetarium, where visitors will experience Dark Side: The Light Show. This production — with 4k visuals, LED sequences and surround sound — was the museum’s first since the planetarium was renovated in 2014. The entire show is set to music from Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, a famous psychedelic rock album released in 1973.
Black Friday takes place on Nov. 25. The event is $22 for non-members, $12 for members. Additional beers beyond the three samples will also be available for sale at a cash bar.
