Now in its fifth year, a Grand Rapids talent competition is taking place Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Peter Martin Wege Theater.
The 15 performers of GR’s Big Talent are comprised of a mix of vocalists, guitarists, an Irish dance team, a pianist and a spoken word artist.
Four judges will assess the performances and give both feedback and scores, which will then be combined with live, text-based audience voting to determine the winners. The judges include Rachael Ruiz of WOOD TV, Gravy of HOT FM, Shelley Irwin of WGVU Public Radio & TV, and Scott Riemenschneider, a local marching band consultant/adjudicator.
First place will receive a $1,000 prize, with second receiving $500 and third receiving $250. The first place performer is also chosen to represent GR’s Big Talent, performing at various local locations throughout the year.
The show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance here, or for $20 at the door, but the past two years’ shows have sold out.
