Large-scale sculpture exhibit arrives at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

On Oct 1., the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts opens Scaled Up: Sculpture by Marcia Wood.

The late Wood was an art professor at Kalamazoo College from 1965 to 1997. Throughout this time, she developed 16 large-scale public sculptures, which are currently displayed in cities across Michigan and Indiana, including two (Procession and Prospect) in Kalamazoo.

Wood’s sculptures are meant to invite interaction from the public, acting as visual metaphors for human existence and personal relationships with nature and architecture.

The exhibit will run through Dec. 31.
