GRAND RAPIDS — Madcap Coffee Company Inc. plans to expand its downtown presence.
The Grand Rapids-based coffee roaster and cafe with a location on Monroe Center announced this morning its intention to open a second cafe in the Downtown Market on Ionia Avenue SW.
The company said in a statement that it hopes to have the Downtown Market location open by the Christmas holiday and in the meantime, plans to offer a handful of events at its second location.
“We want to emphasize the consistency of a quality coffee experience, across all of our locations, and each location will feature a little something different. With our Downtown Market Café, we will strive to create an experience centric around transparency,” Trevor Corlett, Madcap Coffee’s CEO, said in a statement. “The modern and intentionally chosen equipment work to highlight the baristas at the bar and the drinks that they are making for our customers.”
In addition to its existing Monroe Center cafe and retail storefront location, Madcap Coffee operates a roastery at 1041 East Fulton St. in the city’s Midtown neighborhood. A spokesperson for Madcap Coffee told MiBiz in an email that the company hopes to have a cafe open at that location by the early part of 2017.
