KALAMAZOO — West Michigan University’s Miller Auditorium has put together a monthly group open-mic night.
Called Kzoo Sings!, the event welcomes anyone to drop in and help record a new arrangement of pop songs with a group of other amateurs. Participants get a lyric sheet and are sorted by highs, mids and lows, which are then combined in a three-part harmony by the end of the night.
No auditions are conducted and participants don’t need to read any music, according to a statement.
The first event is 7-9 p.m. on Sept. 22, performing Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline. From there out, Kzoo Sings! is being held once a month.
