Mo Pop announces lineup for 7th annual festival

Bringing together all the different styles of Detroit, The Mo Pop Festival is set to bring life and excitement to West RiverFront Park for the seventh year. The two-day celebration, on July 27 and 28, will once again feature bands and musicians to thrill, unique artistic creations, and Detroit's own famously delicious food.

Each day consists of 10-plus hours of continuous music. The festival is being headlined by Australian psych rockers Tame Impala and the New York-based indie pop group Vampire Weekend.

Festival Director Jason Rogalewski is in charge of talent for Mo Pop Festival.

“Building a lineup of all new bands each year is no easy task, but being able to promise that unique experience to fans is so rewarding,” he said. “Hosting iconic acts like Tame Impala and Vampire Weekend on back to back nights is sure to be a highlight in this festival’s history.”

Not only will Mo Pop attendees be able to enjoy top-notch talent, but there will be other culinary and artistic ways to celebrate the festivities. The finest of mobile eateries will give foodies a diverse selection with Food Truck Alley. The Shipyard will feature food from local Detroit restaurants.

In the area of visual arts, the always popular Craft Bazaar by Handmade Detroit has handmade goods from local talents. The festival has even more activities for every interest with Mo Pop Arcade, courtesy of Offworld Arcade, which will gift game lovers the opportunity to play vintage arcade games for free in an air conditioned tent. Returning for the second year, Haute to Death & Friends will bring an energizing dance party to the festival.

With the fanbase growing every year, it is a testament to the good times that Mo Pop delivers. Detroit natives and fellow Michiganders need to mark their calendars for the seventh annual festival on July 27 and 28. Passes go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at mopopfestival.com.
