Speciation Artisan Ales to open tasting room

For 10 months, Speciation Artisan Ales has released its beers one month at a time, quickly selling out again and again as a devoted fan base grows in size and enthusiasm.

It takes time and nuance to expertly brew the kinds of sour and wild ales Speciation focuses on, but it’s paid off as the brewery has earned a reputation as one of the best in the world (just check Untappd).

But owner Mitch Ermatinger announced today that, at some point in the future, that business model will change as the Comstock Park-based Speciation grows into the 2000-square-foot space next to its current production facility on West River Drive. While the date is not set, Ermatinger said the public will know as soon as he does.

The current plan is for the tasting room to have four taps serving 49 seats in a space surrounded by barrels of aging beer. In order to make more room and focus on the beer, there will be no kitchen, by partnerships with nearby restaurants and food trucks may occur.
