Sound Tribe Sector 9, simply known as STS9, will be taking a break from their winter tour, announcing the postponement of their upcoming show dates through February. This includes the band's Feb. 9 stop at The Orbit Room in Grand Rapids.
The cancellation stems from the split between bassist David Murphy and the band, who recently announced they have decided to part ways. The group did not provide any details surrounding Murphy’s departure, but sent good vibes for the Colorado musician’s journey ahead via a public press release.
Since forming in Atlanta during the late ‘90s, the instrumental electronic rock group has definitely left an impression in the “post rock-dance” music scene with the release of 11 albums alongside their dominate presence at national music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Electric Forest Festival, Regeneration and Lollapalooza.
The group’s loyal fan base, need not to worry about the group’s future, as they have no plans for a permanent hiatus.
The band released a statement saying, “To our fans we can’t thank you enough for your understanding and continuous support. We are thrilled for the future of STS9 and can’t wait to share it with you.”
