When the folks at The Intersection claim they have one of the most popular club venues in the world, they really mean it. Those claims were recently backed up by Pollstar (Fresno, Calif.), a concert tour trade publication that gleans information from agents, promoters and plenty of other individuals in the business.
Pollstar recently released its 2013 worldwide third quarter ticket sales chart, and The Intersection landed at No. 33 on the list of 100 club venues.
The No. 33 mark was significant because it is the second highest the club has been ranked in Pollstar's records. At one point, the venue reached No. 16. For the last several years, The Intersection has at least cracked the top 50.
Much of this success could be attributed to the big names The Intersection has pulled in — bands that would normally play larger venues.
"We are happy to say that our reputation among agents and promoters is very good," Intersection general manager and talent buyer Scott Hammontree said via a press release. "Even though Grand Rapids is considered a secondary market, we find that most touring acts want to make us part of their tour because of the great response they get here. We would like to thank the Grand Rapids community for supporting us."
