Indie-rock band The National is scheduled to perform at Calvin College's Van Noord Arena on April 12. The band, known for its dreamy, melancholy songs and frontman Matt Berninger's haunting baritone is touring in support of its latest album, Trouble Will Find Me, released in May 2013.
The band's sixth full-length album features appearances by some of indie-rock's best. including St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten (who Calvin brought to Ladies Literary Club in 2012) and the Michigan-friendly Sufjan Stevens. It also gained an impressive 8.4 rating on Pitchfork and made many of 2013's best-of lists.
Recently, the band wrapped a world tour, as well as added comedy to its repertoire with an appearance on Fox's "The Mindy Project." Our fingers are crossed for a Danny Castellano cameo on the band's next album.
