Gilmore Collection’s new downtown Grand Rapids venue set to open

GRAND RAPIDS — The Gilmore Collection, owners and operators of restaurant facilities like The B.O.B., today unveiled details for the under-construction music venue in downtown Grand Rapids.

Gilmore Collection CEO Greg Gilmore today gave media a hard hat tour of the facility, dubbed 20 Monroe Live, and announced a partnership with Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Live Nation Entertainment Inc.’s House of Blues division, who will manage and operate the club.

The $16 million facility is expected to open by early 2017 and will offer a total capacity of 2,580 people, however the space is being built to offer flexibility for a variety of sizes and events.

“With the addition of the 20 Monroe Live and Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment as our partner, the offerings at The B.O.B. will be vastly expanded all under one roof in the city,” Gilmore said in a statement.

The 20 Monroe Live facility is being built across the street from Van Andel Arena and next door to The B.O.B. where a new apartment tower and beer garden — both slated to open next year — are also construction.

“From a new four season beer garden, comedy club, piano bar, restaurants, brewery, nightclub, multiple private party rooms and now a venue for the country’s top touring acts, we will have a one stop experience to bring the community together in this great venture,” Gilmore added in the statement.

Specific concert announcements are expected in the coming months.

Gilmore demurred, however, when asked for possible early acts.

“I have lots of dreams,” Gilmore said.
